My student has in-district transferred or is on open enrollment at Crest View. Will transportation be provided?
Families that are at Crest View Elementary via in-district transfer* or open enrollment** are able to receive future transportation the following ways:
- If choosing Edinbrook or Fair Oaks Elementary Schools – In-district transfer* and open enrolled** families will need to provide transportation for their student(s) to the repurposed site (what will formerly be Crest View Elementary). From there, a bus will pick up students to go to either Edinbrook or Fair Oaks. This will be for the 2025-26 school year and the rest of elementary school for any current Crest View students (students currently attending Crest View in grades kindergarten through fourth). Note: Of course families could always choose to drop off and pick up directly at Edinbrook or Fair Oaks if they’d like.
- If choosing Zanewood Community: A STEAM School – Transportation will be provided to in-district transfer* and open enrolled** families near their home. However, open enrolled families must reside in one of the seven Northwest Suburban Integration School Districts (NWSISD) to qualify. This transportation structure exists because Zanewood is a magnet school. As such, it will be available 2025-26 and onward for both current and future students.
Official bus stop information will be shared during the back-to-school season in August. Please reach out to Transportation for any transportation-related questions in the meantime via 763-391-7244.
*In-district transfer provides current community members the opportunity to transfer their student(s) to a school other than their assigned school within the district.
**Open enrollment allows students from outside our district boundaries to attend our schools. This is a statewide offering and thus has specific requirements/processes.
June 2025. This means Crest View will continue to have elementary programming this school year – the 2024-25 school year. Current Crest View staff and students will begin their new journeys at transferring schools in September 2025 – the start of the 2025-26 school year.
There are three schools that current Crest View families can choose to transfer to in the fall of 2025: Edinbrook, Fair Oaks or Zanewood Community: A STEAM School. Families can get a quick glance of each of these schools via eb.district279.org, fo.district279.org and zw.district279.org. The best way to learn about these schools is to schedule a tour.
No, some of the school times are different from what’s currently in place at Crest View. Current start times for the three transferring schools are:
*Edinbrook Elementary School is 8:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.
*Fair Oaks Elementary School is 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
*Zanewood Community: A STEAM School is 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Yes. Families that choose one of the three fall 2025 transferring schools will receive free transportation services. This will remain in place until 2024-25 Crest View students reach fifth grade at their transferring school. Note: Transportation services in middle and high school would follow established practices. Many times this is dependent on a family’s home address.
If your family has students that have in-district transferred or open enrolled, please refer to the specifics in this FAQ answer.
Families that are at Crest View Elementary via in-district transfer or open enrollment are able to receive future transportation in a couple different ways. Please refer to the specifics in this FAQ answer to learn more.
Before and after school care will be offered via the Community Education Kidstop program. Edinbrook Elementary School is the host site for a few schools in the area, including Fair Oaks Elementary School and Zanewood Community: A STEAM School. Families who sign up their student for a consistent schedule contract receive transportation to and from their student's school. In this instance, that would be for families that choose Fair Oaks and Zanewood. Of course, parents/caregivers are still responsible for dropping off their student in the morning and picking them up in evening.
