Repurposing portion of the Building a Better Future plan
Over the last several months, the district’s Building a Better Future plan shared that an elementary school would be repurposed to serve pre-kindergarten grades, enrichment and community-based programming needs. After much research and consideration, Crest View Elementary School has been chosen to be repurposed. This means Crest View’s students and staff will be moving schools in fall 2025 – the start of the 2025-26 school year.

June 2025. This means Crest View will continue to have elementary programming this school year – the 2024-25 school year. Current Crest View staff and students will begin their new journeys at transferring schools in September 2025 – the start of the 2025-26 school year.
There are three schools that current Crest View families can choose to transfer to in the fall of 2025: Edinbrook, Fair Oaks or Zanewood Community: A STEAM School. Families can get a quick glance of each of these schools via eb.district279.org, fo.district279.org and zw.district279.org. The best way to learn about these schools is to schedule a tour.
No, some of the school times are different from what’s currently in place at Crest View. Current start times for the three transferring schools are:
*Edinbrook Elementary School is 8:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.
*Fair Oaks Elementary School is 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
*Zanewood Community: A STEAM School is 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Yes. Families that choose one of the three fall 2025 transferring schools will receive free transportation services. This will remain in place until 2024-25 Crest View students reach fifth grade at their transferring school. Note: Transportation services in middle and high school would follow established practices. Many times this is dependent on a family’s home address.
Before and after school care will be offered via the Community Education Kidstop program. Edinbrook Elementary School is the host site for a few schools in the area, including Fair Oaks Elementary School and Zanewood Community: A STEAM School. Families who sign up their student for a consistent schedule contract receive transportation to and from their student's school. In this instance, that would be for families that choose Fair Oaks and Zanewood. Of course, parents/caregivers are still responsible for dropping off their student in the morning and picking them up in evening.

Attendance boundary areas will determine which middle and high school students would attend. This is determined by where families live. Please note: middle school attendance boundaries are going to be changed soon. Expect to see implementation of these in the 2026–27 school year.
The family would need to restart the school assignment process with the Enrollment Center.
Yes. If families would like to attend a school other than the three proposed schools, they’ll need to follow the school choice procedure and fill out the appropriate application, which can be found on the enrollment page of the district website: district279.org/enrollment. Transportation will be the responsibility of families if this route is chosen.
