Scholars at Rice Lake Elementary School recently participated in a fun run. Scholars in all grades participated in the event, which took place on a beautiful day in May.
The event, organized and run by Apex Leadership Co., was kicked off by an all-school assembly and lessons about leadership and character building in the classroom the two weeks before the fun run. The lessons were focused around the “X-FACTOR,” which stands for fearless, adapt, care, talk them up, original and realize.
The run took place during three sessions, with two grades participating in each session. The scholars ran in large circles, including through a blow-up tunnel, cheered on by their parents/caregivers and teachers.
Before the run, scholars received pledges for each lap they ran or a flat donation. Parent volunteers were on hand to mark how many laps the scholars ran on the back of their Apex shirts that they all received. The fun run serves as the school’s major fundraiser for the year. The scholars who raised the most donations were given the opportunity to pie a representative from Apex in the face after the fun run.
