March 3 is opening night for Park Center Senior High School’s musical. The show, The SpongeBob Musical, is a light-hearted, lively and colorful display of Park Center’s fine arts talent that people of all ages will enjoy.
Some of the show’s headliners include Baron Penner as SpongeBob SquarePants, Hayu Abdulmalik as Patrick Star, A.J. Lawson as Mr. Krabs, and Leslie McGaster as Sandy Cheeks.
The musical centers around an impending catastrophic volcanic eruption that threatens the underwater town of Bikini Bottom, and opinions abound - some well-meaning and some sinister - on how the town’s residents should respond. Can SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy convince the town to stay and work to save Bikini Bottom? Just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes center stage.
The show features a lively set of musical numbers by over 20 different popular artists, including rapper T.I., Panic! At the Disco, David Bowie, John Legend, and Sara Bareilles.
