Birch Grove principal honored with distinguished principal finalist award

Birch Grove principal honored with distinguished principal finalist award

Birch Grove School for the Arts’ principal, Dr. Ronald Salazar, has recently been named one of three finalists for Minnesota’s 2024 National Distinguished Principal award by the Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association (MESPA) and the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP).

MESPA and NAESPA created the Distinguished Principal Award in 1984 as a way to honor exemplary elementary and middle school principals who they say set the pace, character and quality of the education children receive during their early school years.

Each state chooses one principal annually via a nomination of peers in their state. The award winners from each state will be announced in May, and they will attend an award ceremony in Washington, D.C. this fall.

“These exemplary educational leaders embody the spirit of excellence, innovation, and dedication to the betterment of their schools and communities," said MESPA Executive Director, Michelle Krell. "Their commitment to fostering a positive and impactful learning environment serves as an inspiration to educators statewide.”
