Two of the three comprehensive high schools in the Osseo School District will welcome new leaders next year.

Dr. Bart Becker has been named the new principal of Maple Grove Senior High effective July 1, 2015. Becker will succeed Sara Vernig, who has accepted a district-level position where she will oversee system-level initiatives such as the work to reduce suspensions; serve as a liaison with families; and provide district-level supervision of activities and athletics.

Dr. Becker began his career in Osseo Area Schools in 2001, serving as a social studies teacher at Maple Grove Senior High for eight years. He became a behavior intervention teacher at Maple Grove in 2009 and served in that capacity for two years. For the past four years, he has served as an assistant principal at Park Center Senior High School.

Dr. Becker holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and social studies - secondary education from Bethel University and a Master of Arts in education from St. Mary’s University. He obtained his Doctor of Education and K-12 principal license from Bethel University. 

Michael Lehan has been named the new principal of Osseo Senior High effective July 1, 2015. Lehan will succeed Dr. Robert Perdaems, who will retire at the end of the school year.

Lehan is an experienced educator who has worked both in the Osseo School District and in St. Paul Public Schools. Prior to his current role as assistant principal at Osseo Senior High, he served as assistant principal at Maple Grove Senior High and assistant principal at Harding High School in St. Paul. Lehan has also served as administrative assistant at North View Junior High and at Osseo Junior High.

Lehan earned an Education Specialist in educational leadership from the University of St. Thomas and holds a Master of Arts in educational leadership from St. Mary’s University. He earned a Bachelor of Science in family social science with a minor in youth studies from the University of Minnesota. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in leadership from the University of St. Thomas.
