school safety systemFour schools will receive a total of more than $500,000 in state grants for safety and security improvements that will be implemented in fall 2019. While district staff submitted grant applications for every Osseo Area Schools preK-12 building, only four sites were chosen at random through the state's grant selection process.

Three elementary schools (Cedar Island, Garden City and Rice Lake) and Osseo Middle School will gain improvements in secure entryways, an electronic visitor management system, card access readers for exterior doors, door alarms, and digital internal radio systems.

The grant funds will support a portion of the district's overall $16 million plan to address safety and security needs.
