Three Osseo Area elementary schools are recipients of $500 “Game On” grants from Action for Healthy Kids for the 2017-2018 school year.
Made possible by funding from Saputo Inc., Fair Oaks Elementary, Oak View Elementary, and Palmer Lake Elementary will use their Game On grants to expand student access to physical activity and healthy foods in school; improve knowledge and behaviors around physical activity and healthy eating; and engage parents in activities that reinforce healthy habits at home.
Fair Oaks, Oak View and Palmer Lake are among 23 Minnesota schools receive Game On grants this year. After also receiving a Game On grant for the 2016-2017 school year, Anne Strootman, resource manager at Fair Oaks Elementary, said the money from this year’s award will enable her school to build upon the wellness initiatives that began last year.
“We recognize the impact of physical activity and good nutrition on our students’ health and learning, and are excited to create an even healthier school environment with the funding and resources from Action for Healthy Kids and Saputo,” Strootman said.
