Woodland Elementary third-grader Logan Fu earned a perfect score in the last of three meets in this year’s WordMasters™ Challenge—a national vocabulary competition involving nearly 150,000 students annually. Fu is one of only 52 third grade students across the United States to achieve this result.
In addition to his perfect score at the final event, Fu also earned individual Highest Honors in the overall competition with a cumulative score of 58 out of a possible 60 points. Highest Honors are reserved for students who place among the top 10-15 students in their division.
The WordMasters Challenge encourages students in grades three through eight to become familiar with a new, advanced set of words. Students are then challenged to use those words to complete analogies—sharpening their critical thinking skills and heping them think both analytically and metaphorically.
