Students from all three of our comprehensive high schools will join together to participate in the winter drumline team called Grove Area Percussion. While this is the group’s second year in existence, it is the first year that students from Osseo Senior, Maple Grove Senior, and Park Center Senior will partner together to compete as one.
Not all schools are able to offer drumline as an extracurricular offering. By combining the student talent and resources from our three high schools, Osseo Area Schools is able to offer this unique, high-energy and engaging activity for interested students. Any student who is part of a performing ensemble (choir, band or orchestra) at their respective high school is eligible to participate. Currently, the group has more than 50 members.
“This is such a rare opportunity for students from all three high schools to really collaborate,” said Paul Terry, music teacher and director for the drumline. “Not only will it allow us to have a more robust group, it will also allow the students at each school to spend a significant amount of time with one another and really get to know each other.”
Grove Area Percussion will participate in the Minnesota Percussion Association and Winter Guard International competitive circuits.
