The following are some of the highlights of the winter athletics and activities season provided by our high school activities directors.


Adapted CI Hockey: Cole Brambilla, Tulio Nicklas, Jason Robins, Mohammed Konneh and Joe Ohotto were named All-Conference.

Adapted PI Hockey: Participated in State.

Alpine Ski: Connor Koch was a state participant.

Boys Basketball: Finished as Section champions and participated in state tournament.

Girls Basketball: Finished second in the Northwest Suburban Conference West Standings with an 18-10 record. Kenzie Barta became the school’s 5th career 1,000-point scorer and finished her career with 1,205 points. Senior Maddie Tharp became the school’s all-time block leader with 104 career-blocked shots.    

Cheer: Placed 5th at the state competition and competed at Nationals in Florida.

Dance: Jazz placed 2nd at the state tournament. Kick placed 4th at the state tournament.

Gymnastics: Nadia Abid and Natalie Young were individual state entrants.

Boys Hockey: Finished as Section runners up.

Girls Hockey: Finished as Section Champions and 2nd place at the state tournament.

Nordic Ski: Jena Hauch & Christina Bolcer were individual state entrants.

Wrestling: Joseph Thompson, Jack Herbes & Logan Dick were individual state entrants.      

Debate: Seth Thompson and Ryan Hankins went to state in Public Forum Debate. Victoria Halvorson and Kevin Jacobson qualified for Nationals in Congressional Debate, Erik Baker was All-State in Congressional Debate, Paul Clement and Allan Khankari qualified for Nationals in Public Forum Debate, and Ryan Hankins, Vaishnavi Venkat, Seth Thompson, Kaycee Peek, and Emily Bui qualified for Nationals in Worlds Schools Debate.

Speech: Ryan Hankins was a state entrant.

FIRST Robotics: Earned the Chairman’s Award at Lake Superior Regionals and competed at the World Championship.


Boys Basketball: Finished as Northwest Suburban Conference Champions and placed 4th at the state tournament. Tim Theisen was named Section 5AAAA Coach of the Year and won his 300th career game.

Girls Basketball: Kiara Russell was named a Ms. Basketball finalist, a Gatorade Player of the year finalist and was named to the Star Tribune First Team

Robotics: Osseo VEX Robotics advanced seven teams to this year’s state competition.

Visual Arts: Eighteen artists were honored at the 4AA and 5AA MSHSL Visual Arts competition with an excellent or superior award from judges. Sue Mei Vue received a judge’s choice award.

Wrestling: Ethan Quezada advanced to the state wrestling tournament.


Boys Basketball: Losini Kamara and Eric Racine were named All-Conference.

Girls Basketball: Finished as section and conference champions and returned to the state basketball tournament for the third year in a row. Danielle Schaub, Ann Simonet and Mikayla Hayes were named All-Conference. Feyisayo Ayobamidele was named All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Competitive Cheer: Jahnaya Kelly, Chanel Omvongkot, Kayla Hutchens and Tiaryn Daniels were named All-State.

Gymnastics: The team earned the Silver Academic Award. Hailey Illi finished third in state on balance beam. Madelyn Clausen competed at state on the bars and in All-Around. Several individuals earned All-State, All-Conference and All-Section awards. Amanda Smith was named Section 5AA Assistant Coach of the Year and Bruch Smith was named Section 5AA Head Coach of the Year

Girls Hockey: Emily Ach and Leah Younkers were named All-Conference. Anna Ballweber was named All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Boys Nordic Ski: The team earned the Silver Team Academic Award. Greg Miller earned All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Girls Nordic Ski: The team earned the Gold Team Academic Award with a 3.92 GPA. Elizabeth Mattson earned All-Conference honors. Rachel Mummah earned AC Honorable Mention honors.

Boys Swimming & Diving:Erik Marcotte qualified for the state swim meet and competed in the 100 Free. The team earned the Silver Team Academic Award. All-Conference honors were awarded to Erik Marcotte in the 50 Free, Khoi Pham in the 500 Free and Ethan Strom in diving.

Wrestling: Gunnar Nelson earned All-Conference finishing second in sections and competed at state in the 113-pound weight class.

Mock Trial: Placed 4th at the Macalaster Invitational

Model United Nations: Meghan Margiotta, Fallon Myers, Laura Hines, Alex Marihart, David Lee, Kongzong Lee, Ricky Vue and Maggie Clink earned awards for Best Position Paper at the State MUN Conference.

Musical: Students presented the musical “Tarzan” which included 65 cast members and 39 tech and pit orchestra members.

One-Act: Actors presented the One-Act play, “The Strength of our Spirit.”

Robotics: The team competed at the Lake Superior Regionals.
