The 21st Annual American Indian Education Day & Wacipi will be Saturday, April 30, from noon to 6 p.m. at Osseo Middle School. A wacipi is a Native American gathering focused on dance, song and family celebration.
This is a free, family-friendly event where participants can explore American Indian heritage and culture. Event highlights include American Indian artisan exhibits, demonstrations, food, college recruitment, community and curriculum resources and contemporary Native American exhibition dancing and drumming. Danza, Park Center’s indigenous student circle, will perform.
“The goals of American Indian Education Day are to enlighten the public about American Indian history and heritage while also uplifting Minnesota’s American Indian students by providing encouragement and pathways to pursue higher education,” said Ramona Stately, Secondary Indian Education Program Coordinator for the Osseo Area Schools.
This annual event is free and open to the public. Osseo Middle School is located at 10223 93rd Avenue North, Osseo.
