When the City of Brooklyn Park issued a fun challenge for citizens or groups to adopt a fire hydrant, two of our schools answered the call. Brooklyn Middle School’s Project Community Club and Zanewood Community School’s after school art club both participated by keeping their chosen fire hydrant clear of snow and ice while also temporarily dressing them up and naming them. Both groups earned a visit from fire department representatives who taught a mini fire safety lesson and brought mementos of appreciation for the students.
