Partnerships between schools and local organizations and businesses benefit district scholars immensely, and Three Rivers Park District Foundation’s commitment to Zanewood Community: A STEAM School is just one example.

Three Rivers contributes to district schools in multiple ways, but most recently, the local non-profit came into Zanewood’s second grade classrooms for an interactive lesson on reptiles and amphibians, which aligns with second grade Minnesota science standards on habitat, survival and the interdependence of organisms and their habitat.

At the visit, students were able to observe a variety of reptiles and amphibians and study their physical characteristics and how they move. After making their observations, students practiced their observational drawing skills by drawing the various turtles, frogs and other creatures Three Rivers brought to the school.
