Weaver Lake teacher surprised with Minnesota Vikings Fan of the Year

The end of the school day is typically a mundane affair for most school staff as they gather their belongings and head to their vehicle. But Oct. 28 was definitely an exception to the norm for Weaver Lake: A Science, Math & Technology School teacher Betsy Fine, who found the Minnesota Vikings mascot, Viktor the Viking, waiting for her in the school parking lot with a special surprise: she had been selected as the 2024 Minnesota Vikings Fan of the Year! 

As fan of the year, Betsy will receive two tickets to the 2025 Super Bowl and will be a contender for the title of NFL Fan of the Year, with fan voting set to launch later this month. Each of the 32 teams in the league nominates one fan to enter this national award contest. The winner will be announced at the NFL Honors Awards in New Orleans in February.

"I am extremely grateful to my daughter, Abbi, for the nomination, my dad for indoctrinating me in all that is football and my family for supporting my passion for everything Vikings and football."
