Prekindergarten students take the stage in "Three Piggy Opera" performance

On May 16, students in Community Education’s Four Star Express prekindergarten program at Basswood Elementary School brought the classic "Three Piggy Opera" to life with a joyful performance in the school gym for staff and families.

Wearing matching pink tie-dye shirts and piggy ears, students told the familiar tale of "The Three Little Pigs" through music, movement and song. The playful opera featured catchy numbers such as the “Straw Peddler Song,” “Stick Peddler Song,” “Brick Peddler Song” and the old, big bad wolf’s dramatic line, “I want a big, fat pig to eat!”

Each student had the opportunity to shine, showcasing creativity, confidence and teamwork on stage.

Under the guidance of vocal music teacher Ms. Stearns, students worked hard learning songs, speaking parts and choreography. Staff and families filled the gym with applause, celebrating the students’ hard work and memorable achievement.

The student engagement in "Three Piggy Opera" is just one example of how Community Education programs create joyful, meaningful learning experiences.
