Maple Grove Senior High DECA Shines at District Competition
Maple Grove Senior High (MGSH) DECA students delivered an outstanding performance at the DECA District 4 Competition on January 12-13 at the Crowne Plaza in Plymouth. A total of 86 Crimson competitors showcased their business knowledge across 25 challenging events in Skills (interviews and sales demos), Career Cluster Events (role-plays and decision-making) and Prepared Events (business plans and marketing campaigns). An impressive 72 students earned top-10 honors in their respective events, securing their place in the upcoming state competition!
The Crimson's success reflects the strength of MGSH's business education program, including marketing, business management, accounting, and entrepreneurship courses. Looking ahead, DECA will play an even more significant role as MGSH launches its Business, Finance and Marketing Career and Technical Education (CTE) strand in the fall of 2026, featuring a student-run school store where business students and DECA members will gain hands-on experience in retail management, marketing and financial planning.
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. At MGSH, DECA is integral to the school's CTE program, providing students with real-world business experience through competitive events, leadership development and community service projects.
This impressive showing at districts demonstrates the students' dedication and the growing strength of the business education program at MGSH, which is led by Tiffany Tainter and John Schetinski. Congratulations to all participants, and best of luck at the DECA State competition!
