Elementary orchestra program caps off school year with district wide concert

The District 279 elementary orchestra program wrapped up the year with a celebration of music May 8 and 9 at Osseo Middle School. 570 students participated in three orchestras over the course of these two evenings. Students from Osseo and Park Center senior high schools joined the fifth grade musicians in the finale, “Poseidon's Temple.” The district commissioned this piece in 2011, and it remains a favorite of fifth graders and a special piece of music to district high school graduates. 

Elementary orchestra staff Brianna Barhorst, Elizabeth Pim, Jody Kinneberg, Bonnie Knapp and Joseph Krueger conducted the concerts. Dr. Christa Dean and Mary Gagnon conducted the Osseo and Park Center orchestras, respectively.
