The purpose of the Security and Emergency Management Advisory Committee (SEMAC) [Formerly Risk and Emergency Management Advisory Committee or REMAC] is to continuously improve and support the execution of the district’s Security and Emergency Management Plan* in order to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment in Osseo Area Schools.

*Security and Emergency Management Plan: Formal and informal practices, policies, and procedures related to security and emergency management that contribute to a district culture focused on safety and security.

Membership

The Security and Emergency Management Advisory Committee (SEMAC) consists of district-level staff, school-level staff, and community partners, such as parents/guardians, police officers and fire department representatives.

Each fall, staff leaders seek new members to join the committee. Desired qualifications/attributes of members include:

A high interest in school safety and ensuring a healthy environment for students and staff.
A collaborative and positive attitude to work with other committee members who bring diverse perspectives.
The ability to attend six two-hour meetings per year (Oct., Nov., Jan., Feb., March and April). Meetings are generally held in the mid-late afternoon on Wednesdays.

Commitment

The Security and Emergency Management Advisory Committee (SEMAC) meets five times per year to review and recommend updates to the district’s formal and informal practices, policies, and procedures that promote safe and healthy learning environments for students, staff, and community.

2024-2025 school year meetings will be in-person at the Educational Service Center (11200 93rd Ave N, Maple Grove MN 55369) from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on:
