General Purpose of Job:  We are recruiting for a District Maintenance Person (HVAC/Building Automation) to inspire and prepare all students with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning by providing maintenance, repair, and operational needs of district facilities.  

Primary Function:  The HVAC/Building Automation District Maintenance position will install, repair and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment; provide technical expertise to building level staff concerning maintenance, repair and operational needs of facilities. Install, repair and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment.  

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental job duties.

  1. Performing electrical and mechanical repairs.
  2. Troubleshooting the operational failure of electrical and mechanical equipment, including but not limited to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, steam and hot water boilers, electrical and pneumatic controls.
  3. Understanding of automation systems of control relating to heating/air conditioning.
  4. Performing piping tasks, including but not limited to pipe threading, soft and hard soldering.
  5. Performing arc and gas welding.
  6. Understanding burner control sequences, pumps, and dampers.  Adjusting and monitoring boilers and follow-up on preventive maintenance.
  7. Performing hydronic heating and cooling repairs and their related apparatus.
  8. Recommending to the Assistant Coordinator as to the repair and/or replacement of equipment.
  9. Maintaining materials, tools and manuals as needed.
  10. Performing other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.

Skills: Operational knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment such as boilers, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning, etc.  Operational knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment as they are used together on equipment.  Demonstrate knowledge of building automation systems; ability to diagnose problems related to building, mechanical, and electrical systems relating to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.

Qualifications:

  • Vocational training in heating, ventilating and air conditioning required. 
  • Electrical training preferred. 
  • First Class C Boiler's License upon hire. 
  • Refrigeration certification Type-Universal preferred. 
  • Valid MN Driver's License.  


Job Type:  Full-time, year round,

Hours:  7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday through Friday.

Salary Range:  Per contract, Class X (Salary Base Range $23.29/hour to $31.44/hour); This position is Benefit Eligible
