Daily substitutes
- Rate of Pay: $150/day
- Ongoing assignment/s at various buildings
- Short-call substitute license required
- Additional Incentives:
- +$250 for full week of service (assigned 4/4 or 5/5 full days a week)

In the absence of the classroom educational support professional (ESP), the substitute ESP supports the classroom teacher in instruction, encouraging student progress, and managing the learning environment.
- Pay Rate: $15/hr or
- Retirees $19/hr (10+ of instructional support experience)

Substitute nurse
In the absence of the school nurse, provide emergency care for sick or injured school children, assess the health status of students and school personnel, advise students, parents and staff regarding health issues, and conduct preventive and health education services.
Minimum Qualifications include:

Must be a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse currently licensed in the State of Minnesota

Basic first aid and health screening.

Ability to communicate and foster positive working relationships with students, parents and staff.

Ability to teach health information to student groups.

Current CPR certification.

School year substitute Kidstop/4 Star Express (16+ years old)
To be responsible for interacting with Four Star and/or Kidstop children in an enriching school year school-age care program.
Minimum qualifications include:

Must be 16 years of age.

Must be energetic, have strong organizational skills, be confident, patient, sensitive, understanding and able to work with elementary aged students.

Must believe in the mission of District 279 and have the desire to build on the strengths of the district.

Must be a team player and able to communicate with all ages.

How to obtain a short call teacher substitute license
To qualify for a substitute license, a candidate must meet one of the following:

Hold a bachelor’s degree (or U.S equivalent as verified by a foreign evaluation) in any field, as verified by an official transcript, or
-
Be enrolled in a teacher preparation program and have successfully completed student teaching with a final grade reflected on the candidate’s official transcript, or
For candidates in career and technical education (CTE) fields or career pathways, have one of the following:
- 5 years of relevant work experience aligned to a CTE licensure area

Hold an associate’s degree aligned to a CTE licensure area, as verified by official transcript

Hold a board approved professional certification aligned to a CTE licensure area

Do I need to take the SubSkill Online STEDI Training?
Osseo Area Schools requires substitute teachers holding short-call licenses to complete the online training and assessment with a composite score of 85%. The district offers free online training for new substitute teachers. This training takes approximately 8 - 10 hours and should be completed within 30 days of hire.
