Senior High School

To graduate from Osseo Area Schools, students must satisfy the following minimum credit requirements earned in grades 9-12:

• 12 credits in English
• 10 credits in Social Studies
• 9 credits in Science
• 9 credits in Math
• 3 credits in the Arts
• 1 credit in Life Fitness
• 1 credit in Health
• 19 credits in Electives
• 64 credits total

Within each subject area, specific classes may be required. See your high school course registration handbook or your guidance counseling office for specific course requirements.

Career and Technical Education programs help students gain academic and technical knowledge, skills, competencies and attitudes required in college and careers. Students explore career fields, clusters and pathways to learn about hundreds of career options.

Career and Technical Education for high school students consists of six program areas:

• Technology Education
• Family and Consumer Science
• Business, Marketing and Information Technology
• Cooperative Education and the Community-Based Vocational Assessment and Training (CBVAT) Program
• Health Science Magnet Program (Osseo Senior High)
• Career Resource Centers

Magnet schools allow students to deepen their learning in special focus areas.

• Osseo Senior High offers a full health science magnet program, including courses that continue the STEM emphasis.
• Park Center Senior High School: An IB World School offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, recognized worldwide for its challenging international education and rigorous assessment programs.

Applying to magnet schools

Submit your completed magnet school application online starting Oct. 15; the priority deadline is Dec. 31. For help with the application, please call 763-450-1300.

Within district guidelines, free transportation is provided to magnet school students who enroll through the Northwest Suburban Integration School District.

Each student in grades 9-12 receives a district-issued Chromebook for educational use. 

A typical high school student will use their device to do schoolwork both at home and at school. They might do research, access online curriculum, annotate an assigned reading, or create videos that document their learning. Mobile devices also allow students to experience a flipped classroom, which involves viewing (during non-classroom hours) a video of their teacher providing instruction and then using class time to dig deeper into that topic, ask questions, or do group work on a project.

All high school students use Schoology, a learning management system that supports online learning, communication, and collaboration among teachers, students, and families.

Osseo Area Schools offers flex learning courses (courses which have a combination of seat time and online learning activities) and fully online courses. For more information, contact your student’s school or registration handbook.

For additional online learning options, consider Northern Star Online, a consortium of west metro school districts that have joined together to offer online courses for secondary students. Students should consult with their school counselor before registering for an online course.
