Improvement Leadership Team
Purpose:
The purpose of the district-wide School Improvment
Leadership Team (SILT) is to:
- Establish and
maintain a ISD 279-wide decision making matrix;
- Support the ongoing progress of the site teams
to effectively carry out the functions of school
improvement using a shared decision-making process;
- Monitor and "torque" the system.
Responsibilities:
The School Improvement Leadership Team has responsibility
for the following:
Planning: This includes establishing, maintaining,
and updating a ISD 279-wide decision-making matrix;
addressing changes that need to be made in the school
improvement handbook; and allocating limited fiscal
resources needed for supporting the shared decision-making
process.
Communication: This includes articulating
ISD 279's school improvement planning
process to all stakeholders and identifying
available resources which support each site's
successful implementation of the school improvement
and shared decision-making process.
Facilitation: This includes supporting
and routing waiver requests from specific
sites to the party(ies) of authority for
approval, providing clarification concerning
ISD 279 decision-making matrix and school
improvement handbook, and facilitating dialogue
between sites and/or ISD 279 when questions
arise about decision-making authority or
alleged violations of the ISD 279 decision-making
matrix or shared decision-making processes.
Training: This includes planning and
recommending potential courses, activities,
projects, etc. which are designed to enhance
the shared decision-making skills of stakeholder
groups.
Membership on the Team (total membership
= 25):
Superintendent is a permanent member
President of Education Minnesota - Osseo is a permanent
member
Two School Board members will be appointed at their
annual organizational meeting
Two Assistant Superintendents of Leadership, Teaching
and Learning are permanent members
Licensed Staff: (three secondary, three elementary)
to be elected/selected for staggered three-year terms
Parents: (three representatives) to be elected/selected
for staggered three-year terms
Principals: (two secondary, two elementary) to be
elected/selected for staggered three-year terms
Support staff: (clerical, custodial, and paraprofessional)
to be elected/selected for staggered three-year terms
Students: (one student from each senior high) selected
yearly by their respective schools.
