Talented & Gifted Program Services
Welcome
Welcome to the Talented and Gifted (TAG) home page. Here you will find basic information about Talented and Gifted services in ISD #279. Formal identification begins in first grade and TAG service is provided for identified learners in grades two through twelve.
TAG services revolve around the major components of the Schoolwide Enrichment Model developed by Dr. Joseph Renzulli and Dr. Sally Reis at the University of Connecticut including assessment, skill development, compacting and curriculum modification. The junior high SEM model also includes opportunities for individual or small groups of students to focus on an area of particular interest with the SEM teacher to help facilitate the investigation, research, and product creation. This Type III enrichment is available at all junior high schools. Senior high programming includes Advanced Placement offerings, Autonomous Learner Program classes, Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) and the Mentor Connection. The structure of service is different at the elementary, junior high and senior high levels. Please explore the TAG website to locate your specific area of interest about our program, or for additional resources. As stated in our district mission:
All learners must be challenged to perform at their peak levels
and pursue academic excellence.
We will implement educational programs that meet the varying needs of our learners.
During the school year our dedicated staff will strive to foster creativity, higher level thinking skills, and problem-solving through the continued development of learner attributes including high ability and creativity. Ongoing skill development in task commitment continues to be a core element of Talented and Gifted Program Services in the Osseo School District.
Sincerely,
Beth Carpenter
