Where did you go to school and what is your previous job experience?
I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota in 1978. I completed my first master’s degree in 1981 at Indiana University in special education; with an emphasis in emotional and behavioral disorders and vocational education. I completed my second master’s degree in 1987 from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls; with a major in school psychology and special education administration, and a minor in counseling. Previous to coming to the Osseo district in 1987, I taught special education in Kokomo, Indiana for 8 years and in then in the Mahtomedi district.
When did you begin working at Park Center?
I have helped out with assessments at PC as needed over the past several years; however, 2008 is my first year ‘full time’ at PC.
What is your teaching philosophy?
When I was in the classroom I tried to unlock the potential in my students and to bolster their feelings of self-worth and confidence.
Why did you choose your profession?
I have always loved learning…..it’s a life-long process…there’s something new to learn every day…..
What is your favorite quote?
Life isn’t measured by the number of breaths we take……but by the number of moments that take our breath away.

Additional Comments(hobbies)?
I love to quilt, knit, weave (baskets) and bead. I also enjoy reading, kayaking, and spending time with family and friends.
Advice for students going to college?
Take your time to find what strand of coursework really trips your trigger…..because when you are done with school it’s important to love what you do, and do what you love, if you hope to truly be successful and to have a positive impact on whomever it is you work with/for.
Biggest pet peeve?
When a man uses the term ‘the wife’ versus ‘my wife’ or better yet, her name, when talking about her…….. Using the term ‘the wife’ is demeaning….it’s the same as saying ‘I’m taking ‘the dog’ for a walk, or I’m taking ‘the trash’ out……shows a lack of respect and compassion……

If you were required to find a different job than what you are currently doing, what would you choose?
I’d plan retreats….spiritual, educational, creative….to encourage continued growth, learning, and renewal for adults who have become way to stuck in their rut…..
