Where did you go to school and what is your previous job experience?
Benilde-St. Margaret’s HS; St John’s University- B.A. Degree; Univ. of MN- M.A. Degree; I have worked with children and adolescents in other settings, including stints at St. Joseph’s Home for Children and Washburn Child Guidance Center. My first job as a school counselor was at St. Francis High School. I worked there for 5 years.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Make positive connections with students, let them know you’re there by supporting them, allow them to develop and mature as individuals and students.
Why did you choose your profession?
I enjoy being around youth and trying to have a positive impact on their learning.

That which does not kill me makes me stronger.

I also coach tennis at PC.
Advice for students going to college?
The applicant pool for colleges grows more competitive every year. You can not afford to take your high school years lightly. Devote time to your studies now and you will have more opportunities, as a result, later
Biggest pet peeve?
People who fail to take responsibility about the events in their lives and constantly blame others.

If you were required to find a different job then what you are currently doing, what would you choose?
That’s a tough question. I might return to landscaping, a manual labor job that I found satisfying because you could see what you accomplished at the end of each day. Although it’s not as personally fulfilling as being a school counselor, it does have a creative component. It also provided me much peace and tranquility.
