Where did you go to school and what is your previous job experience?
I attended high school in Mankato, Bloomington and Phelps, Wisconsin. I attended undergraduate college at Minneapolis Community college where I majored in Addiction studies and received a Certificate in Chemical Dependency Counseling. I attended Metropolitan State University and received a Bachelors of Arts majoring in Psychology. I also attended St. Thomas/ St. Katherine’s Colleges joint program for Social Work and received a Masters of Social Work Degree. After I received my M.A. degree I took a national test and became a Licensed Graduate Social Worker. At that time I also received a School Social Worker License. After receiving the Graduate Masters of Social Work License I completed two years of clinical supervised experience and was able to sit for the National Licensed Clinical Social Worker exam. Presently, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed School Social Worker, a Licensed State of Minnesota Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and a International Board Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
My previous work history includes working as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor in a State and County Vocational Training Program providing consultation and client services. For four years I was the Director of a 24 hour Crisis and Initial Assessment Unit in a Psychiatric Hospital. I worked as a Chemical Health Counselor in the Minneapolis Public schools for 7 years, the St. Paul Public Schools for a year and the Edina Public Schools for 11 years, and the District 287 Schools for 3years. I also worked as an Alcohol and Drug counselor for a County Rehabilitation program that worked with U.S. Probation Clients who were being released from the federal prison system. I worked as a trainer/consultant for a national training institute that trained schools across the U. S. in setting up mental health/chemical health programs within schools. I also worked during summers within the Hennepin County Juvenile court System conducting pre-court Drug and Alcohol assessments for adolescents.
When did you begin working at Park Center?
I began working a split assignment at Park Center and Maple Grove High Schools the fall of 2002 as a Student Assistance Counselor. I worked full time at Park Center as a Student assistance Counselor from Sept.-Dec. of last year and in January of 2005 I became the Special Services Department Social Worker at Park Center.
What is your teaching philosophy?
That every person is a teacher and a learner at the same time and that learning is a lifelong process.
Why did you choose your profession?
Because I like helping others and I respect the creativity and resilience people display while meeting personal challenges.

Additional Comments(hobbies)?
I love to read and have fun with my two Granddaughters ages 4 and 7 yrs.
Advice for students going to college?
When the going gets tough continue to move forward. Don’t let the obstacles stop you from progressing because “this too shall pass”.
Biggest pet peeve?
Driving to school in bad weather.

If you were required to find a different job than what you are currently doing, what would you choose?
I would own a clothing boutique that would require me to travel to other countries to buy clothing and items for the store.
