Advisory Committee (HSAC)
We would like 2
parent reps for the Human Sexuality Advisory Committee (HSAC). The
first meeting is scheduled for November 10, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the ESC in room
N10. There will be maybe 2 more meetings this year closer to late
winter/early spring time.
Human Sexuality
Advisory Committee (HSAC) Purpose
This advisory committee will provide input to
ISD 279 curriculum writing teams during the pre-assessment, assessment and
development phases of the Health Program Improvement Cycle.
HSAC Level of Authority
A.
This
committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Program Improvement Cycle
Health curriculum writing teams in the area of human sexuality (HS), and
sexually transmitted infections (STI). All recommendations of this
committee go to the writing teams. Writing team recommendations must proceed
through the normal Teacher Advisory Team, the Principal Advisory Team, and the
Division of Leadership, Teaching, and Learning Advisory process.
B.
The
committee may appeal decisions of the Division of Leadership, Teaching, and
Learning Advisory to the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Educational
Standards with notification to the School Board.
HCAC Responsibilities
During the development phase of the program improvement process (PIP):
I.
Make
written recommendations, to the writing teams, on materials for preview to
support HS/STI outcomes.
II.
Preview
instructional materials under consideration for adoption and provide written
input on these materials to writing teams.
III.
Receive
report on the Health curriculum from the writing team at the end of development
year 2.
Community
Education Program Advisory Council (CEPAC)
We would like
to recruit 3 parent reps to serve on CEPAC.
Purpose:
Section
1: To assist in the development of the district’s community education
program
Section
2: To promote citizen involvement in the planned activities of community
education
Section
3: To improve communications between school and community
Section
4: To work with community education advisory councils and civic, faith,
service and
governmental
organizations when necessary to provide for the needs of the community
Section
5: To promote the community education philosophy of lifelong learning for
all ages
Membership:
The
council shall consist of representatives appointed by each school or community
organization and will be chosen based on their interest in community education
and their willingness to be an active participant of CEPAC.
