| Grading Mechanics Grades will always be posted on Monday. Each week you will receive a participation grade, and a grade for your websites(your own will be one grade and upgrading existing ones a second grade). Any assignments or quizes done that week will be entered. You will receive a final grade for your website of 50 points each. You will also receive a final grade for your updates of existing websites of 50 points each. The final test will be the only paper/pencil work we do in this class. Websites will always be graded at the end of the week and will be considered late(1/2 off) if not ready by then.
Participation You will be graded
by the teacher on class participation. Since this is mostly a hands on class,
15 percent of your grade will be assigned for staying on task, not surfing the
Internet, working on your websites, etc. You will be more on your own than you were in 1st tri. On occasion, I will call the 2nd tri students together to demonstrate a technique. Most of the time, however, you will use this curriculum, the HTML book, the Javascript book, and the Internet as your teacher. I will, of course, be there to answer questions.
Assignments and Quizes/Final Test There will only be one written test, a final test. There will also be several scripting quizes in the Javascript portion of Tri. 2. Quizes and the written test must be done on the scheduled days. The rest of this grade will be Tri 2 exercises, assignments that are designed to teach you and give you practice with skills you will use on your webpages. Some of these assignments will be required, but a few of them are extra credit opportunities. It is more important to get the required exercises done than to do the extra credit. As with 1st trimester, these exercises can be turned in any time during the trimester for full credit. These exercises will be saved into a folder on the school webserver. Rholl will grade them and then delete them. You should, of course, have your working copy on the C drive of your computer as a backup. This section will be
worth 25 percent of your grade.
Websites You are required to maintain and update PC
formatted floppy disks, one for each website. The floppies should contain the
entire folder for that website, including images. The disk should be titled with
your first initial and last name and the name of the Park Center organization that disk is for.(Ex.JSmith-Football). Of course, your working copy will be on the C drive of your computer therefore the disk is merely a backup and a means of turning in a website to Rholl. For each website, name the html document that
you wish a viewer to start with as index.htm.Grading of the
websites will be done every week at the end of the week. You will grade your work on each website each week, as will Rholl. Both you and Rholl will use the same
Grading Rubric. You will be only graded on quality. This section of the class is worth 60% of your grade(35%-your site, 25%-updating). |
