Welcome to the PC Speech Team Home Page

The ideal site to inform you of the goings on in PC speech right now. Or, if you're not in PC speech, hopefully this will be a nice site to find out what it is.

End of the school year... end of useable info. So, an explanation of what "Speech" is and how fun it is to participate:

What is speech?

Speech is basically a formal, one-man play that you write. Sometimes though, you aren't the one that writes the speech, you take it from published material or you even make it up as you go! To help explain better, here is what usually goes on in a tournament:

  1. You have a 6-8 minute speech that you probably have memorized.
  2. You're in a room with 4-6 other people that also have speeches.
  3. There is one judge that will watch you and score you depending on what category you're in.

Most of the fun of Speech is the skills you can learn from giving and watching speeches. You can learn how to speak in front of audiences, memorize, write scripts, improve your acting, handle tough discussions, and how to express yourself!

Although there isn't much to say about PC speech right now, I've compiled a list of all the categories one person can be in. All info is quoted from the MSHSL site.
Its a lot, I know. You don't have to read it all. If you have any questions, see our Speech Team coach, Mrs. Neri, in room 338.
