We started out with no rules, whatsoever. Shortly after that we noticed, that there's no point to play without them, because there were issues coming up all the time.

We came out with quite a few rules and we're still alternating as soon as there is an issue.

  1. Serving:
    • the ball has to hit the ground first and bounce up, then you have to hit against the wall.
    • at the serve, the ball has to hit the wall above a certain mark. On the balcony it is usually the colorchange between yellow and green.
    • the ball has to be served in between certain marks.
    • the ball has to be served at a certain distance to the wall.
  2. Playing:
    • When the ball bounces up the wall, it can bounce on the floor once, then it has to be hitten by a player.
    • A player can hit the ball directly after it hit the wall, too.
    • The ball has to hit the wall after you hit it.
  3. Faults:
    • At the Serve - the ball doesn't hit the wall
    • At the Serve - you move your foot in beyond the serving line
    • At the Serve - you drop the ball 3 times without hitting it
    • During the game - the ball doesn't hit the wall
    • During the game - you swing at the ball, but you don't hit it
    • During the game - you hit the ball twice in a row
    • During the game - you swing at the ball with two hands at the same time
    • All the time - the other players don't like you and convince you that you commited a fault
  4. Special situations:
    • Two or more people both move towards the ball and none of 'em hit it - They shoot for it.(Rock, Paper, Scissors)
    • You and another person have the same distance to the ball and nobody moves - They shoot for it
    • One person makes a movement towards the ball. If nobody else moves, and the person doesn't hit the ball, he is out
Most of the time a game only takes up to 5 minutes - even with 20+ players. If you're out, just wait for the next game to start. By the Rail of shame!

The best way to learn the rules, is to play the game. Just stop by any weekday at 2pm at the balcony and start playing :)

Have fun!

History

Handball started back in 2005. The seniors at that time had nothing to do before the Junior High kids can to practice. Legend has it that someone found a ball and started hitting it up against a wall and the games began.
But not everyone was a handball fan. Soon after the games began Hall Montiors started cancelling games and taking balls.
The player decided to move their games to the basement hall(I don't even know where it is)where they could play ball in private and stay safe from the Fun Killers. Evently the Monitor got fired and once again the player moved back to they home on top of the balcony where we find our player today.
