The optional exercises of floor, uneven bars and beam are evaluated from 0 to 10 points. The gymnast is evaluated in each of the following categories:
TOTAL POINT VALUE: 10.0
*** Each time a fall occurs in any routine or vault, the gymnast is automatically deducted .5 of a point.
EXECUTION AND AMPLITUDE
Maximum point value: 4.0. Performing an exercise with assurance and perfection in form and technique, with the fullest range of extension of all parts of the body.
DIFFICULTY
Maximum point value: 3.0. The required competitive skills fall into three categories: a basic routine shall contain at least 4 skills of medium difficulty, 3 skills of superior difficulty and on skill of high superior difficulty. In addition to basic difficulty, a gymnastics may perform Bonus High Superior Skills.
COMPOSITION
Maximum point value: 1.0. The structure of the exercise requiring a progressive arrangement of sequences including all of the requirements for that event. For floor exercise and balance beam the composition of the routine must include a variety of skills in both the dance and tumbling categories.
EVENT REQUIREMNTS
Maximum point value: 1.4. Those skills which are require for each event. Lacking an event requirement is a deduction of -.2. Examples of even requirements would be a 180 degree airborne twist on floor exercise, a series of both dance and tumbling skills on beam, and a handstand on the bars.
BONUS
Maximum point value: 0.6. Additional tenths of points awared to highly skilled gymnasts who perform extra and/or very difficult moves to the ultimate in technique and execution. If bonus highly superior move is performed, a gymnast may ear up to .2 additional points in this category.
