A.) Accounting is the language of every business. This course
is an introduction to the fundamental concepts and principles
needed to operate a sole proprietorship service business. Students
will learn basic accounting terminology and explore career
opportunities. Once the basic concepts have been mastered,
the students may use the computer to solve accounting
problems. (It is recommended that you take A, B, C to get a
full picture of the Accounting cycle.)
B.) In this second accounting course, students apply basic accounting
principles for a merchandising business set up as a
partnership. The final project will be a business simulation.
C.) The students will use the fundamental concepts and principles
used in Accounting A & B for a corporation. Computers
may be used to solve accounting problems after the basic concepts
have been mastered. A computerized business simulation
will be used to give students a practical experience using "realworld"
examples. It is recommended that students with a
strong interest and ability in accounting continue on to the second
year of Advanced Accounting.
