 Sound Card outputs your music from the computer!
Sound cards today usually come in PCI because it's faster and it is the more common port on computer motherboard these days. Nicer sound cards equal a better sound for your computer games and for listening to music when you are just sitting around the computer.
You should be sure to use a soundcard that will be able to match the speakers that you plan to use. If you are going to use a 5.1 surround sound system you will need to use a 5.1 soundcard or better. If you plan on using a 7.1 surround sound system you will need to use a 7.1 soundcard for your speakers to function properly. Always make sure to research the products you buy before you purchase them to save yourself a lot of trouble.
