During Sunday's Wolves vs. Memphis game, the Timberwolves honored Park Center High School student Tenzin Jangchup, presenting her, along with four other students, a $2,000 Scholarship to be put toward tuition fees at a college of their choice.

The Minnesota Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation and American Family Insurance on Wednesday named Brooklyn Park resident and Park Center High School student Tenzin Jangchup as one of five winners of college scholarships awarded to high school seniors eligible in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. The winners, including Jangchup, were selected from over 400 applicants and were recognized in an on-court ceremony during the Timberwolves game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, April 6.

Each scholarship, worth $2,000, is to go toward tuition costs at a college or university for students who will be attending classes in the fall semester of the 2008-09 school year. All applicants for the Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation Scholarship had a minimum 850 SAT or 19 ACT score and a 3.0 GPA. All applicants participated in extra-curricular activities and completed 45 hours of community service (outside of school), during the course of the school year. A panel for the Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation reviewed all applications and selected the winners.

Tenzin Jangchup is a senior at Park Center High School in Brooklyn Park. Jangchup is a member of Park Center's student government, National Honor Society, Students for a Free Tibet and Students Against Violence Everywhere. She has volunteered at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota. Jangchup was also a varsity cheerleader and a member of the gymnastics team. Tenzin wants to attend college to become a pharmacist.
