WE HAVE A BOWLING TEAM? Well, yes, kind of. No official team or club, but a community sponsored activity that involves PC students.

The bowling team that is sponsored by Brunswick Zone XL has eighteen players ranging from 7th grade all the way to seniors that are in the PC school boundaries. The majority of players are in 10th grade this year. The team consists of one 7th grader at Brooklyn Jr. High, two 8th graders from North View Jr. High, one 9th grader from Brooklyn Jr. High, eleven sophomores, one junior and two seniors.

Captains

High School bowling is a lot different than just going open bowling. In High School you bowl in the style of Baker. Baker bowling is a team of five players that bowl one game. (Ex. One person bowls 1st and 6th frames.) When a player only bowls the two frames of the game it shows some importance of getting a mark in those frames. A mark is a strike or a spare in the frame. If you don't get a strike or a spare then its called an Open. One open can cause a final score to to drop by about twenty to thirty pins. That puts a lot of pressure on each individual bowler because you only bowl two frames and one bad frame can destroy a team's score.

The Bowling Team's coaches are Ron Klug and Ellen Ruud.

The Bowling Team is sponsored by in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota

Varsity

Since the team has eighteen players, they were able to have three teams with some extras. They have one Varsity team and two JV teams. The Varsity team’s players are Senior Co-Captain Michael Peterson, Senior Co-Captain Jared Almsted, Sophomore Haley Cunningham, Sophomore Austin Ruud, and Sophomore Josh Morse. Varsity subs are Sophomore Amanda Matson and Freshman Dani Brown.

JV Green

The JV teams are called Pirates Green and Pirates Gold. Pirates Green players are Sophomore Lindsey Graske Sophomore Brian Kracht, Sophomore Luis Pineda, Freshman Dani Brown, and Sophomore Amanda Matson. Pirates Gold players are 8th grader Lucas McCord, Sophomore Gordon Magaka, Sophomore Brian Heinrich, Sophomore Andrew Stiernagle, and 8th grader Kai Peterson

Some late additions to the teams are Sophomore Lawrence Javes, Junior Joey Lee, and 7th grader Madison Cunningham

JV Gold

Brunswick's high school bowling team is in the NW Metro Conference. Other teams that are in the NW Metro Conference are Armstrong, Brooklyn Center/Patrick Henry, Champlin Park, Cooper, IDDS, Maple Grove, Osseo, Rogers/West Lutheran and Wayzata.

The team has competition every Wednesday afternoon and practices on Mondays. The bowling centers that are used are Medina entertainment center in Medina, Sundance Golf and Bowl in Dayton, Spectrum Lanes (Alligators Night Club) in Maple Grove, Doyle’s bowling center in Crystal, Earle Brown bowling center in Brooklyn Center, and Brunswick Zone XL in Brooklyn Park.

Matches are played 3 out of 5 games. If the teams tie in one of the games, then the match automatically goes five games. The team with the higher pin count in the five games will win the match. The matches can range from three games to five games. Most teams want to win in three games, because it would be the quickest way to win the match.

If you want to join the team for next year, you can go to Brunswick Zone and talk to Jerry or Ron Klug
