69th annual North Iowa Band Festival Parade
Park Center Marching Pirates - summer marching band has their first Grand Champion award under their belts for the highly competitive summer parade season.

It’s Much More Than Just The Music!

There is something quite unique about marching band. Each time the band performs, there is a special opportunity where students experience a sense of community. They realize that the sum of who they are together is far greater than anyone individually. PCMB offers a sense of esteem through unity and expression. Students understand more than ever the importance of working together. There are challenges of high performance standards and consistent hard work at practices. We discover how achieving excellence is a process, not an event.

Park Center’s Marching Band provides a “family” to which everyone belongs. It is a place to learn values. We all depend upon each other in our pursuit of excellence. Members learn about responsibility, doing their fair share, and working toward a common goal. We value and respect one another rather than make judgments. Marching Band is about teaching life and life lessons. It’s learning to function in society. It’s about tolerance and harmony, both musical and personal. It’s laughter, it’s memories, it’s hard work and most of all, it’s the discovery of self-work and self-skills for each and every one of you. Frequently, friendships develop that are life-long.

This summer the Marching Pirates will again compete against the best bands in Minnesota for the coveted Grand Champion award in Alexandria, MN on June 24th. In the meantime, the Pirates will compete in various parades in Champlin, Waconia, Osseo, Winona , Foley , Sauk Rapids, and Milaca. The Pirates already have won Grand Champion this season at the North Iowa Band Festival Parade last Saturday in Mason City, and the First Annual Drumline Competition 1st Place. We are off to a great start! Many seniors who are graduating on Sunday have spent as many as 5 years in the marching band starting with Honor Guard as 8th graders. Our Drum Majors this year are seniors Steven Peters and Bjorn Johnson. Please come to cheer on the Pirates at the Tater Daze parade on June 14th and stay late for the award ceremony in Pirate Stadium. A special thanks to Mr. John Olson for his superb direction and also to his talented staff of auxilliary instructors and to Mrs. Linda Johnson as Parade Coordinator. Go Pirates!!
