The Asian Club Cooks!
Many jobs can be unpleasant. However, one of the best jobs in the world is being a judge for the annual Asian Club Cook-off. Five staff members from Park Center (and one from Osseo H.S.) had the pleasant task of sampling eighteen different courses prepared by six student teams.
The six teams, made up of six members each (with a surprising number of guys), were given two hours to prepare an appetizer, entrée, and a dessert. Some went beyond these requirements and included refreshing beverages like smoothies for the judges.
Kasia Thao, a member of last year’s winning Asian Club Cook-off team, presented this year’s winners with our new traveling trophy.
The winning team was the X-Angels(right), which included two sets of brothers and sisters. The X-Angels’ award-winning meal included spring salad, Thai tom yum soup, mango lassi drink, and chocolate crepes. The X-Angels are John Lee, John Yang, Koua Xiong, Amy Yang, Peter Xiong and Jamie Lee.
Many cooking team members are sophomores and juniors, so they’ll be able to don their aprons again next year and vie for the honor of winning the next annual Asian Club Cook-off.
