Congratulations to Katy Gerber, Michael Himmerich, Anthea Yur, and Ngoc Nguyen for having their poems published in New Voices (Bemidji State University). Ngoc received the Editor’s Award for “A Seed in My Ankle.”

Congratulations to the OSH Mens and Womens Nordic Ski Teams. The men finished 2 nd in the Northwest Suburban Conference meet, and 6 earned All-Conference Honors: Nathan Hutchins-Peterson, Randy Erdmann, Jerod Letofsky, David Johnson, Anders Evenson, and Northwest Suburban Conference Champion Brad Hartmann. The women finished 4 th, with 3 skiers earning All-Conference Honors: Sarah Todey, Anna Todey, and Northwest Suburban Conference Champion Kaley Shagen. This is the first time in the school’s history that we’ve had both the Mens and Womens Conference Champions the same year!

Despite frigid temperatures, three of the above skiers also qualified for the State Meet. Brad Hartmann finished 2 nd in the section meet and Anders Evenson finished 4 th. Both qualified for the State Meet as a result. Kaley Shagen continued her incredible season-ending run, winning both the classic and freestyle races. Kaley is the first OSH Skier to win a section pursuit title. Brad Hartmann ultimately finished 10 th in the State Meet, and also earned All-State honors.

Congratulations to Adam Hammer, who recently broke the record for the most pins by an Osseo Senior High School wrestler.

OHS teachers Gary Leafblad and Dave Casella (Health Science Magnet Program), recently received Patriot Awards for their strong support of Matt Foy, an ESP in their program. Matt is in the Armed Forces Reserves, and was activated in late February.

Brandon Burns and Norma Arellano, OSH Biology Teachers, have been awarded a Computers to Classroom Grant. They will be receiving six (6) Lenovo ThinkPad X60 laptops for classroom use.’

Bill Huston, OSH Physics Teachers, has been awarded a $2500 grant from the Toyota Corporation to support the OSH Robotics Team efforts.

Kate Hildebrand, Grade 12, has been selected at a KARE 11 Academic All-Star. She was featured on the 5:00 pm broadcast on March 14, and the 6:20 am broadcast on March 15.

Three OSH Wrestlers qualified for the State Meet. Congratulations to Carson Brolsma, Adam Hammer and Jon Volp for wrestling their way to state competition. Adam eventually finished 4 th and earned All-State Honors.

Congratulations to Phyllis Webb, OSH Girls Basketball player, selected to the All-Metro Girls Basketball 3 rd Team.

Shari Benson, OSH Social Studies teacher, has been selected to participate in a seminar at The Clare College, Cambridge University, Cambridge England. Shari will be part of a seminar titled The Civil Rights Movement. Congratulations Shari, for winning this scholarship in the face of tough competition.

Paige Olson, OSH senior, was recently honored as a Channel 12 Standout Student.

Each year, the Northwest Suburban Conference sponsors a school sportsmanship contest. Players, Coaches and Fans are rated by the officials at each game. I thought you might find the winter results enjoyable to read—something we can all be proud of. There are 10 teams in the conference.

Finally, Tim Theisen, Head Coach, Boys Basketball; Joey Waters, Head Coach, Girls Basketball, and John Rieser, Asst Coach, Girls Basketball, were recently honored as Section Coaches of the Year by their peers. Congratulations to each.
