OSH Subscription Databases- Here you will find several excellent searchable databases (collections of information) that OSH pays to subscribe to. These are available to you only on OSH computers.

Remember that your school Library and A. V. media staff is happy to help you with any of the sites below if you are in need of help. OSH pays to subscribe to these resources so, you only have access to them while using a OSH computer.

World Geography - This database includes over 15,000 reference entries about countries of the world in order to further understanding of the world—its landforms, weather systems, and resources—as well as its colorful and often conflicting human cultures.

CultureGrams-This database contains information on 187 countries and territories in reports that include maps, statistics, a glossary and in depth information on 25 categories

Encyclopedia Britannica- This is an electronic version of the print Encyclopedia Britannica . It is searchable by subject or topic.

eLibrary - This database has four components. The eLibrary component contains more than 2,000 full-text and multimedia sources, including magazines, newspapers, books, television/radio transcripts, maps, pictures, and audio/video clips. The History Study Center component contains historical reference material that covers 14 centuries of history, from ancient to modern, old world to new . The Learning: Literature component is a comprehensive resource including 3,000+ author biographies; 40 searchable full-text literature journals; full-text literary works; and other key criticism and reference sources. The eLibrary Science component contains over 800,000 full text science sources as well as interactive activities.

SIRS- There are three databases at this site. We subscribe to SIRS Researcher which is intended for high school and adult audiences, it contains thousands of full text articles selected from over fifteen-hundred publications.

CQ Researcher - CQ Researcher is a database that is excellent for finding out about issues and different viewpoints on those issues.  It allows both browsing and searching by date or topic.

Institute for Career Research- This database will assist you in your personal career exploration. Included are: an online career test to identify careers where you may be successful, career reports with detailed information about employment opportunities, bulletin boards where you can receive answers to career specific questions, and up-to-the-minute career news and trends. You will need to obtain a password from either the OSH Library or Career Resource Room or AV Area in order to access the site.

Magill’s Medical Guide by Salem Press. This database contains information about major diseases and disorders of the human body, the basics of human anatomy and physiology, and common medical procedures.  The content is the same as the print encyclopedia called Magill’s Medical Guide located in the OSH Library.

Salem History - A comprehensive history database from the 1950’s to the present.
