What is the Osseo National Honor Society?
The Osseo NHS is a group of students who are recognized for scholarship, leadership, service, and character. As a group, students dedicate their time to better community through service projects. All members also share a high standard of academics and school involvement. Throughout the year, each member is to complete thirty hours of service for NHS funds, as a group, and individually.
Important Note:
It is highly recommended you get your 10 individual volunteer hours completed over the summer. To get credit for your hours, fill out the Individual Service Hours Form. Be sure to get a supervisor's signature! Also, you may begin tracking your hours on the Individual Sheets, which will be collected at the last meeting on May 27. This form does not have a column for it, but it also requires a signature from the supervisor of each activity.
Fundraiser:
On the individual sheets, there is a space for fundraising hours. The officers will provide bags with various popular candy bars to sell in school beginning at the first meeting in the fall. Selling 20 pieces of candy is credited as one hour. Therefore, selling 60 candy bars will fulfill the fundraising requirement, Last year's NHS members found this fundraiser fun and easy. However, if a student does not feel comfortable selling the candy, he or she can find another way to raise sixty dollars individually and hence fulfill the fundraising requirement.
