| Richard james created the slinky in 1943 |
| This spring-toy came about by accident as James was developing springs to support sensitive equipment on ships. 80 feet of steel wire in 10 seconds. His wife Betty James named the Slinky and runs the company that produces it.Around 1960 richard james joined a Bolivian religious cult.To do this he left his wife and six children. He also left the james manufacturing company.Betty had to take over and she did. Until she sold the line to Poof toys in 1998. |
