The history of cotton candy
It was originally called "fairy floss". The process of making it was invented by 4 guys named: Thomas Patton, Josef Delarose Lascaux, John C. Wharton, and William Morrison. In 1899 Morrison and Wharton patented the first electric cotton candy machine, it used centrifigual force to spin and melt sugar through small holes. Then in 1900 Patton got a patent for using a gas-fired rotating plate that spins carmelizing sugar, with that he was able to form threads of cotton candy with a fork. "It was a big hit". Then in 1904 two nashville candy makers showed how they make cotton candy at the St. louis World's fair. They sold 68,655 boxes of cotton candy (each box was 25 cents). They sold such a delicious treat for a little amount of money. Then in 1949, Gold medal products launched a cotton candy machine with a spring base.
