Senior Timeline

Maintain good grades

  • All colleges and universities accept you “provisionally” until they see your final transcript.
    Changing or Dropping Classes
  • Students who ask to change or drop a class once their application has been submitted or once they have been admitted to a college must contact the college(s) and indicate the changes. Be aware that these changes may cause a college to reconsider their decision to admitt you or even revoke a previous decision to admitt you.

Take the ACT or SAT  (April-October)

  • Take or retake an ACT or SAT on the first test date available in the Fall of your senior year.  In order for your application to be complete at a college campus they must have received your ACT score.  Send your scores directly to the colleges you are applying. Colleges require the score to be sent directly from ACT or SAT not by your school.

Schedule a campus visit. (April-October)

  • Watch for campus preview days, private college tour, or individual tours.
  • Get a close-up look at a campus and its people, programs, and services before you apply.
  • Try to speak with students on campus and attend a class in the major you wish to pursue.
  • Meet with post secondary admission representative.

Apply for admissions (September – December)

  • Apply early and watch priority application deadlines because several colleges fill by those dates and admission standards after that date are often more competitive.  Applications are available from the college or universities, on-line, and in the Career Resource Center at MGSH.  All application requires an official transcript, which can be obtained in CRC.  Please allow 7 working days to process your application.  November 5 is the cut off date to guarantee transcripts be sent by winter break.  All other requests will be sent after January 4, 2010.

Apply for scholarships (September- April)

  • Watch priority application deadline for your college scholarship opportunities.  Check the Career Resource Center Web Site for District, Community, and National scholarship applications available at MGSH. 

Apply for housing (November – May)

  • Check deadlines for housing applications and watch deadlines.  Take advantage of the freshman housing guarantee deadline.

Apply for financial aid. (January 1-)

  • Submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by priority deadlin(check college financial aid office for deadline date) to be assured consideration for all types of financial aid for which you may be eligible.

Reciprocity (April – June)

  • Obtain, complete and submit reciprocity forms for Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota.  Apply after May 1, 2010 @ www.mheso.state.mn.us

Confirm your enrollment

  • Check the deadline for admitted students to confirm your enrollment, this usually involves submitting a form and fee to the campus. This deadline is usually May 1st.

Apply to NCAA (September)

  • College-bound student athlete, if you intend to participate in Division I or II athletics as a freshman in college, you must be registered with and be certified as eligible by the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse.  There is no deadline to register with the clearinghouse; however, you must be certified before receiving an athletics scholarship, practicing and competing at a Division I or II institution.  Applications available in CRC or apply on line at www.NCAAclearinghouse.net Maple Grove Senior High Code 241-489.  All applications require an official transcript which can be obtained in CRC.

Final Transcript

  • All colleges and universities will require a final transcript of your academic record, final class rank, and graduation date.  Submit  the final transcript release form to the CRC prior to graduation.  No transcript will be sent if the request is not returned to CRC.
