~ About the Campus Schools ~
The Campus Schools (Cedar Island, Fair Oaks and Oak View Elementary Schools) offer expanded early learning opportunities within an elementary school environment, and provide continuity of student learning from early childhood through grade 6.
The three elementary schools that comprise the Campus have special grade configurations: Cedar Island (Early Childhood–gr. 3); Fair Oaks (Early Childhood–gr. 3); and Oak View (gr. 4-6). The Campus Schools serve approximately 1,400 students, age 3 through grade 6. Diverse demographics contribute to rich, real-life learning environments that help prepare students for the 21st century workplace. Fair Oaks and Oak View provide support to students who are English Language Learners, and all three schools have programs and services for students with special needs.
What makes Campus Schools different from traditional K-6 elementary schools?
Students come to Cedar Island and Fair Oaks as young as age 3, and benefit from the continuity of coordinated learning environments all the way through grade 6. The campus environment helps students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Continuity of educational experiences, Early Childhood–gr. 6, is created in all Campus Schools by:
- Building community through campus-wide student and family engagement activities, and by supporting transitions from early childhood to kindergarten and from grade 3 to grade 4;
- Ensuring student learning through campus-wide coordination of curriculum and instruction, and staff development;
- Ensuring a safe, healthy and responsive learning environment through consistent character education programs, student behavior expectations, and joint community service projects.
