Please follow the two simple steps below to apply for school choice.
Step 1 – Determine the Student’s Resident District and Neighborhood school
Step 2 – Complete a School Choice Application
STEP 1 – DETERMINE THE STUDENT’S RESIDENT DISTRICT AND NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL
PRIMARY ADDRESS
The primary address of a student is used to determine the student’s resident district or neighborhood school of assignment if a resident of ISD 279 – Osseo Area Schools.
The address of the biological/adoptive parent or other person having court appointed legal custody of the student is considered the student’s primary address, irregardless of where the student physically lives.
Please contact the Enrollment Center if you have questions about a student’s primary address.
RESIDENT DISTRICT
To determine your student’s resident district, visit pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us or contact the Enrollment Center.
If the student’s resident district is not ISD 279, the student does not have an assigned neighborhood school. These students may apply for a school in ISD 279 through school choice.
NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL
Each neighborhood school has an attendance area that determines the resident students that are assigned to the school. An attendance area is a geographic area surrounding the school. Attendance areas optimize the enrollment at each neighborhood school.
If the student’s resident district is not District 279, the student will not have an assigned neighborhood school. These students may apply for a school in ISD 279 through school choice.
If the student’s resident district is ISD 279, please determine the student’s neighborhood school by entering the student’s primary address in the School Boundary Locator or by contacting the Enrollment Center.
After reviewing the determining the student’s resident district and neighborhood school, please proceed to STEP 2.
