- Complete and return enrollment materials
Download enrollment forms. Turn in your completed forms during regular office hours at any of our 17 elementary schools or the Enrollment Center, located at 7051 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center. The Enrollment Center offers a one-stop shop for enrollment, with an on-site immunization clinic and other services available.
Students who wish to attend a school outside of their attendance area and non-resident students need to apply by Jan. 15 to be in the first lottery. Visit the enrollment section at district279.org for more information.
- Schedule an Early Childhood Screening
Before your child starts kindergarten, they must be screened. Early Childhood Screening is free for all children ages three through five. Screening includes a check of vision, hearing, and developmental progress; a review of immunizations and family information; and an individual consultation with parents regarding the child’s progress and any identified needs. Please call 763-391-8776 to schedule your appointment as soon as possible.
- Update your child’s Immunizations
State law requires written proof that kindergartners have been immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (DTP); measles, mumps and rubella (MMR); polio; varicella (chicken pox); and hepatitis B. If you have questions about these immunizations or the free immunization clinic, please call our Enrollment Center at 763-585-7350.
- Watch for Your child’s open house invitation and transportation information
Transportation is provided to elementary students who live 0.8 mile or more from school; your child’s specific busing information will be mailed in late August.
