Maple Grove Senior High production earns Hennepin Theater Trust's SpotLight Musical Program honors
The Maple Grove Senior High fall musical, “The Will Rogers Follies” has taken honors in the Hennepin Theater Trust’s SpotLight Musical Program. The production earned honors in the categories of “Outstanding Performance by a Chorus Ensemble”, and “Outstanding Performance by a Dance Ensemble.” In addition, actors Jenna Boroughs and John Neumann were each recognized for “Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role.”
SpotLight provides an opportunity to visibly and powerfully impact the lives of high school students, their school communities and their families by encouraging and supporting their participation in high school musical theatre.

Working with commissioned evaluators from the field of theatre education and the musical theatre community, Hennepin Theatre Trust created a program that celebrates high school musical theatre productions and recognizes performances in a variety of categories. Any high school in the seven-county Twin Cities metro area that produces a musical is welcome to participate.
The program culminates each spring with the SpotLight Conference and Awards Ceremony, where students from participating schools have the opportunity to attend musical theater workshops taught by theatre arts professionals. The conference provides valuable interaction between students and current leaders in the field. The weekend concludes with a public awards ceremony that showcases performances by some of the best high school talent in the metro area and recognizes some of the outstanding high school theatre programs that thrive in our very own communities. In addition, participating schools have the opportunity to attend workshops, artist lectures, events and shows sponsored by Hennepin Theatre Trust throughout the year.
