The Southeast Asian Family Celebration The Southeast Asian Celebration hosted by the Adult Education Center on November 18, 2006, as part of National Family Week, was a hit! A Traditional Dragon Blessing performed by the House of Hui (a local restaurant) kicked off the celebration. The day continued with Asian dance demonstrations, performed by students from the Osseo School district. Traditional Asian food demonstrations were prepared by students from the Osseo Adult and Family Learning program. Between 200-300 community residents were in attendance; including Brooklyn Center’s Mayor Kragness and Mayor Elect Tim Willson. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the different community services available as well as take part in the activities presented by different programs from around the Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center area. It was an exciting celebration of local Asian culture and community. Adult and Family Learning is a Community Education and Services program of the Osseo Area Schools offering day and evening ELL/ABE/GED classes for adults. For more information call 763-566-5452. |
