What is PST?
It's Weaver Lake School's "Parent, Student/Staff Team"! PST is a partnership between parents and school staff who strive to enhance the learning experience of our students within the school. It is also a forum for parents to obtain knowledge and voice their opinions on what's happening at Weaver Lake School. As a parent or guardian of a Weaver Lake School student you are automatically a member...there are no dues! Benefits of being an "active" member of PST are:
- Keeping up to date on what's going on within the school and district as a whole. Hear from other members that have attended school or district meetings and share what they have learned.
- Meeting other parents with similar ideas, concerns or questions. Many times other parents have already experienced issues you are facing and can offer support and advice.
- Getting to know teachers and staff. Becoming familiar with the school staff can help promote better communication and understanding of school issues.
- Promoting family values by planning programs at the PST meetings that address many of the interest and concerns of today's families. In addition, PST plans many events that bring families together throughout the year.
Being an advocate for your child. Studies show that children who have parents that are involved in their education do better in school. |

Fundraising Fundraising is an important part of the PST. The funds raised help provide school-wide enrichment programs, paraprofessional positions and classroom support materials that might otherwise be eliminate due to budget constraints. Additionally, this past year, the PST raised almost $72,737.53 and voted to use these funds for:
- the SKILLS tutoring program
- the Nature Program
- the DARE Program
- the Volunteer Coordinator position
- the Jazz Residency
- additional Media Center materials (such as AR Quizzes)
- Paraprofessionals
- Cultural Residencies
There are many opportunities for families to participate in fundraising efforts. PST realizes that your time and money are very valuable and doesn’t expect everyone to participate in each fund-raiser. Choose those that will work best for you family. |
